DA Mayor for Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba Makes A Shocking U-turn On E-tolls
“I will work tirelessly to remove the burden of e-tolls from the shoulders of our people. We need your mandate so we can fight on your behalf.” This is what Herman Mashaba promised people when he asked them to vote for the DA.
All that has changed! Mashaba says that he will not stop e-toll.
The mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, says that he will not stop e-tolls in Gauteng as he promised during his campaign. This has come as a surprise to many who voted the DA with hope that it will end the tolling system.
Mayoral candidates Herman Mashaba, for Johannesburg, Solly Msimanga for Tshwane and Ghaleb Cachalia, for Erkuhuleni, expressed their defiance against the e-tolling system outside Sanral’s offices in Pretoria as they were luring voters to vote for the DA. But all that has changed in just few days after they assume their duties as mayors.
But instead Mashaba has pushed the goal post to national elections.
“That is why I will work towards 2019, with Mmusi Maimane taking over the country so that it can be dealt with at that level,” said Mashaba today.
